“Choon Mi”, who kept a kind and warm heart - tucked her clothes on Jina’s shoulders in a recent video, “Jina’s desperate prayers”, without participating in Friday service, went home to have a conversation with her mother. Her mother who was exhausted from work and became utterly worned-out and went to bed - asked Choon Mi to chat in the next day. Chun Mi felt she was ignored, and at 1:16am she left a message, “see you in heaven” to ‘Durihana’ students.

Choon Mi who had excellent painting skills, always wanted to become an artist. But the news from her mother this morning that she jumped off from the 9th floor of her apartment, was tragic. From 10am this morning, which held for 7 hours, she went through a major surgery and now she is in ICU. It is heart-breaking to hear from a doctor that she has to live as paraplegic patient for rest of her life.

Most of ‘Durihana students’, under a single parent, cannot live with their families but live with friends who are in similar situations and have similar sorrowful hearts in Durihana dorm. As most North Korean defector mothers are, they are deprived of freedom, trafficked in the process of escaping from North Korea, and fear of abuse and repatriation and had to go through the unwanted marriage. Though their fear will never go away from their hearts, they cannot live with their adolescent children due to cultural, environmental, financial problems, and longing for their families in China or North Korea. They have to live very stressful and challenging lives.

The hard realities eventually affect their children. Their children also suffer from language problems, cultural difference and mostly like to be bullied. In their families, with newly introduced step mother or father and broken families, in every way, young students have to suffer from stresses, distresses and severe pain. The burden to bear and the barrier to overcome these problems are too heavy and high for these young second generation defectors’ children. Please, pray for all durihana students, and especially for Choon Mi who was diagnosed to be paraplegic, that through God’s grace, let miracle to be experienced and let it become her testimony in her life.
